Job Summary
Guide City departments through the enterprise architecture process and contribute to the overall IT strategy planning. Implement enterprise architecture practices and principles while leading the team to identify business needs and develop solution architecture requirements. Analyze current business and IT environments to recommend solutions for improvement and facilitate the creation of governing principles for decision-making. Develop and oversee architecture implementation, including documentation of the enterprise architecture framework, and ensure governance structure and compliance activities are in place. Work with business partners and vendors to develop strategic technology roadmaps and translate business needs into enterprise-level architectural direction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information/Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Six (6) years of experience in an architecture-related field
- Two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture practices and principles
- Knowledge of architecture methodologies (e.g., SABSA, Zachman, TOGAF)
- Knowledge of modeling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate)
- Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes
- Knowledge of financial analysis and architectural language models
- Knowledge of basic graphical modeling approaches
- Skill in developing IT strategies
- Skill in planning, organizing, and managing workload
- Skill in facilitating collaboration with customers
- Skill in analyzing complex business and IT systems and data
- Skill in effectively consulting and negotiating multiple projects
- Skill in communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to translate business needs into enterprise architect requirements
- Ability to collect and analyze user IT needs
- Ability to understand, advocate, and support business and IT strategies
- Ability to estimate the financial impact of enterprise architect alternatives
- Ability to develop reports, presentations, schedules, and other relevant materials
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and objectives
- Ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems
- Ability to facilitate work in a team environment with diverse skill sets
- Ability to lead and mentor less-experienced architects
- Ability to build and maintain professional partnerships at all staffing levels
- Ability to adhere to required compliance to all change management policies and procedures
- Ability to adhere to required compliance to all information security policies and procedures
- Must reside in Texas
- Must be able to drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of regular job duties (if meeting Driver Safety Standards)
- Must pass a Criminal Background Investigation
- Must pass Financial and/or CJIS background check
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience serving as an Enterprise Architect, with responsibility for developing and governing enterprise‐level architectures (e.g., application, data, integration, cloud, or security) in complex, multi‐department environment
- Demonstrated experience maintaining enterprise architecture standards, roadmaps, and reference architectures, with an example of influencing technology decisions through governance and strategic planning
