Job Summary
Monitor students assigned to alternative education classrooms while establishing a calm educational atmosphere. Assist with instructional activities including reading, writing, and utilizing educational materials. Encourage independent work and reinforce skills taught by classroom teachers by addressing academic problems and completing special assignments. Monitor hallways during class changes and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Requires a high school diploma, successful ParaPro Assessment results, and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Must exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer
- Must see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Must hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Must speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Must have physical agility to lift to 25 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead
- Must pass a Criminal Justice Background check
- Must pass Fingerprinting
- Must pass TB Assessment
Desired Qualifications
- Successful test results on the ParaPro Assessment
- Previous experience working with students
