Job Summary
Enhance and support core business applications in RPG IV/ILE and Free form while collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and create functional specifications. Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and coordinate development and QA tasks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability by troubleshooting existing applications. Create technical design documentation and implement development standards, contributing to modernization efforts using SQL, APIs/web services, and AI tools. Assist with IT Help Desk tickets for production issues as needed. This role drives modernization initiatives within a stable insurance environment, focusing on evolving critical applications on the iSeries platform.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in full lifecycle delivery of complex systems, including requirements gathering, design, build, test, and deployment
- Strong knowledge of relevant development environments, protocols, and programming languages associated with the iSeries, including RPG IV/ILE and RPG Free, SQL including imbedded SQL in RPG, CL
- Understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders and IT team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Visual Studio Code with IBM i related extensions a plus
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred
