Job Summary

ISA Nuclear Safety Engineer will support the design and development of a next-generation MOX fuel fabrication facility in the United States. This role applies risk-informed methodologies in accordance with 10 CFR Part 70 to support nuclear safety analysis and licensing activities. It serves as a technical interface between U.S. engineering teams and expert support teams based in France with MOX fuel cycle experience, contributing to the implementation of ISA methodology, identification of accident sequences, determination of credible initiating events, and specification of Items Relied On For Safety (IROFS). The engineer supports nuclear safety documentation for regulatory engagement (pre-application interactions, construction authorization requests) and ensures safety requirements are embedded throughout the system design lifecycle. The project is part of a broader advanced nuclear fuel cycle strategy including multi-recycling of plutonium to improve resource efficiency and sustainability. Key responsibilities include performing nuclear safety evaluations and risk assessments using ISA, identifying accident sequences, developing IROFS, contributing to ISA-based training materials, ensuring compliance with NRC/DOE requirements, translating safety requirements into engineering design constraints, coordinating with fire protection, human factors, and criticality safety teams, contributing to nuclear safety case development and licensing documentation (PSAR, Construction Authorization), participating in design and safety reviews, and reviewing analyses for technical adequacy. Requirements emphasize a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, 10+ years of relevant experience, and strong communication and collaboration across international teams. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a mission-driven, collaborative culture.

Required Qualifications
