Job Summary
Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake) to support enterprise data needs. Develop and manage data lakehouse solutions that extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into data lakes or warehouses for analytics. Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business objectives. Fine-tune performance for queries and pipelines to ensure rapid delivery of critical data. Stay current with Databricks features and industry best practices while recommending improvements to enhance workflows. This role supports Canadian Natural's analytics and data science teams in Calgary, AB, with term lengths of 4, 8, or 12 months starting January or May 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an Information Systems diploma/degree program
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
Desired Qualifications
- Eagerness to learn and grow in cloud-based data technologies, with exposure or interest in tools such as Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Data Lakes, Azure Data Factory, and KNIME
- Basic experience or strong willingness to develop skills in Python, SQL, and PySpark, along with an understanding of MLOps, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines as part of modern data engineering practices
- Strong communicator with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Team-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated willingness to collaborate, share knowledge, and contribute to collective success
