Irrigation Technician- Wilmington

Job Summary

Operate pumps, suction, and heavy equipment to manage assigned landscape maintenance projects, including truck/trailer setup and refuse removal. Maintain equipment, check fluids, and ensure all safety devices are functional while enforcing proper PPE and lock-out procedures. Provide estimates, recognize drainage deficiencies, and interface with clients to establish positive relationships. Communicate job site status to Operations and Account Managers. Requires valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and willingness to work weekends, odd hours, and in all weather conditions. Weekend or overtime hours as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in irrigation
  • Has satisfactorily completed the prescribed "Crew Member" training guide
  • Maintain valid driver's license
  • Meet all applicable state-mandated labor laws
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment
  • Be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly
  • Be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Be able to reach over head with hands and arms
  • Be able to climb or balance
  • Be able to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Close vision

  • Ability to communicate w/ lead people and crew members regarding progress of tasks and assignments
  • Able to effectively drive and back-up a truck and trailer combination

  • Work with other employees as a team
  • Meet or exceed company production rates set forth
  • Ability to safely operate a refuse truck in a residential area
  • Know how to lift /move heavy items
  • Thorough knowledge of the lock-in /lock-out procedure
  • Ability to safely operate a compactor
  • Thorough knowledge of proper PPE
  • Ability to safely use cleaning supplies and solvents
  • Ability to work in residential and commercial areas
  • Ability to safely use snow removal equipment
  • Knowledge of safe driving techniques in snow and ice conditions
  • Knowledge of appropriate clothing for the weather conditions
  • Knowledge of blueprints
  • Knowledge of Mainscape Standards of Excellence
  • Enforce safety of the customer, job site, and company employees on site
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures
  • Interact with customer daily as needed
  • Weekend or overtime hours as necessary
  • Odd hours are a necessity during inclement weather seasons
  • Combination of office, shop, and field time
  • Exposure to all four weather seasons and all times of day and night
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • High noise level requiring ear protection while operating equipment
  • Arrive before or at the time set by their Supervisor every day within previous 6 months
  • Arrive to work in clothes fitting the Mainscape dress code policy every day within the previous 6 months
  • Have not missed any days of work, unexcused by supervisor, within the previous 6 months
  • Complete training for all applicable service categories
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all essential job responsibilities and duties
  • Have Supervisor recommendation to advance to the new position

Desired Qualifications

  • Six (6) to twelve (12) months of previous commercial experience as a crew leader
  • Irrigation certification
  • Pesticide License, preferred
