Job Summary
Plan, lay-out, and perform all types of structural steel erection and fabrication work in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Continually seek opportunities to share knowledge, teach others, and eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, and inefficient material storage. Inspect subordinate work for accuracy and compliance, explain deficiencies, and take necessary corrective action while maintaining positive working relationships with all crew members. Produce high-quality work safely and productively, ensuring all materials, tools, and information are available. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperatures and outside conditions, requiring the ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds while climbing and maintaining balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work
- Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level Ill) and six plus years (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the ironworker trade
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
- Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
