Job Summary
Assist in planning, layout, and performance of structural steel erection and fabrication work while maintaining positive crew relationships and producing high-quality, safe results. Provide feedback on materials and tools, eliminate waste, and operate work-related equipment using effective math skills. Learn safety hazards and ask supervisors before continuing if unsure about tasks or safe practices. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperatures, climbing steel frameworks and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. Requires one to two years of industrial/commercial construction experience, NCCER Core Curriculum or high school diploma, and proficiency in personal protective equipment. Required Qualifications
- Must have a one – two years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry
- Must have a general understanding of the craft work being performed
- Must be able to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must have effective Math skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Must be able to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
- Must be able to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Must be able to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
- Must be able to move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas
