Job Summary
Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead responsible for implementing, managing, and overseeing the home’s IPAC program in a long-term care setting. Leads planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention, conducts surveillance, identifies outbreaks, coordinates immunization programs (influenza clinics), investigates and manages outbreaks in collaboration with public health, pharmacy, and medical director, communicates findings through data/reporting and resident/family channels, and collaborates with leadership to ensure IPAC policies are followed and reported to relevant authorities. Requires RN/RPN registration, IPAC certification, and several years of IPAC/outbreak management experience; expects education and training delivery to staff, residents, and caregivers, plus ongoing collaboration with public health and quality teams.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration with the Provincial College of Nurses with an RN or RPN designation
- Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology obtained within 3 years from hire date
- Completion of IPAC Core Competencies training
- Completion of an IPAC Canada Recognized Course is an asset
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a long-term care setting
- Previous experience in Infection Prevention and Control and Outbreak Management
- Previous experience providing education and training as an asset
