Job Summary
Negotiate intellectual property licenses for patents and trademarks across mobile communication, video streaming, and e-commerce. Map claims against relevant technical standards and leverage Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) such as 3GPP or O-RAN Alliance. Draft and review contracts including license agreements, development outsourcing agreements, vendor agreements, and partnership terms. Conduct frequent English negotiations and present at company-wide meetings. Domestic and international business travel may be required, with potential for international relocation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in patent license negotiations (both as licensor and licensee are acceptable)
- Experience in the field of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs)
- TOEIC score of 800 or higher
- Business-level English proficiency (requiring strong speaking and listening skills)
- The ability to hold your own in English negotiations
- Domestic and international business travel
- Potential for international relocation
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the field of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) is a strong plus
- Experience in analyzing and leveraging Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) (3GPP or O-RAN Alliance)
- Licensed Attorney/Patent Attorney in Japan or another country
- Grade 1 Certified Intellectual Property Management Specialist
- Experience living or working abroad in an English-speaking country
- Results from English proficiency tests such as Eiken or TOEFL
- Business-level Japanese proficiency
