Job Summary
Investment Systems Application Engineer role focused on building sophisticated investment interfaces. Responsibilities include UI/front-end engineering to create modern, responsive interfaces for investment workflows; develop data-driven applications for portfolio analysis and operations; create reusable UI components and design patterns; full-stack development spanning UI, APIs, and backend services; expert system analysis and integration of third-party products; ensure performance, scalability, and usability; collaborate with PMs, Ops, and Research to translate requirements into user-centric designs; deploy on AWS with modern CI/CD, maintain code quality, testing, and security; participate in architectural discussions and platform evolution; familiar with Vanguard technologies and IT/security policies; sponsorship for visa is offered; future of work includes remote and hybrid work models.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least 5+ years of software engineering experience building investment, wealth management, or financial applications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field
- Strong front-end development experience (Angular or React)
- Experience building full-stack applications (Java/Python backend)
- Understanding of investment workflows and user personas (portfolio managers, trading operations, research analysts)
- Understanding of API design and integration
- Experience working with cloud-native systems (AWS preferred)
- Ability to contribute as an individual contributor while guiding design decisions
