Job Summary
Investment Manager for off-grid energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, co-leading one of two off-grid energy mandates from the Nairobi regional office. Responsible for the full investment cycle of debt and equity into portfolio companies active in SHS, C&I, green mini-grids and productive use of energy. Requires frequent travel across Africa to represent the mandate, conduct due diligence, and monitor investees. Solid track record in direct investments in off-grid energy, 8+ years experience, strong negotiation and communication skills, and ability to collaborate with a global team. English required; French a plus; working permit a plus. Remote arrangement is hybrid for this Nairobi-based role.
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience and track record of direct investments in the off-grid energy space in Sub-Saharan Africa (sub sectors like C&I, SHS, mini grids or related industries) with some investments in early-stage / early growth companies
- Experience in developing deal structures and monitoring investments; exit experience preferred
- Ability to understand and handle complex topics rapidly
- Verbal and written business English proficiency; knowledge of French is a plus
- Existing working permit is a plus

- Monitoring lead (board or board observer) experience
- Demonstrated deal structuring- and restructuring experience
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking
- Good negotiator; result-oriented; team player
