Job Summary
Investment Director leads the evaluation and execution of biotech and diagnostics investments for the Roche Venture Fund. Responsibilities include monitoring emerging healthcare investment areas, developing investment strategies, representing the fund to external entrepreneurs, investors and academia, conducting due diligence and managing negotiations and transactional requirements for new investments, working with portfolio company management and the board to build value, monitoring operational and financial performance, handling contractual matters and exits, and participating on the Investment Committee. The role requires a solid scientific education (PhD, MD, MSc) and 8-12+ years of experience in biotech/pharma and life sciences venture investing, with a track record of interacting with senior leaders and a strong global network. Travel internationally is an integral part of the job.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or MD or MSc in a scientific field
- 8-12+ years of work experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries
- 5+ years of work experience in a life sciences venture fund
- strong quantitative and analytical skills
- experience interacting with executives and senior leaders
- existing relationships within Roche/Genentech ecosystem is a plus
- board experience is preferred
- strong leadership and communication skills
- willingness to travel internationally
