Job Summary

Write CNBC's flagship evening investing newsletter, delivering a smart, engaging briefing after every market close. Explain how the day's market action affects retail portfolios and identify key themes, opportunities, and risks emerging from news. Connect developments across earnings, economic data, and global events into clear takeaways while looking ahead to next-day catalysts. Produce original reporting by cultivating relationships with strategists, economists, and corporate executives. Collaborate closely with CNBC's television, digital, and social teams to surface the strongest insights. Use audience analytics to improve engagement and subscriber growth. Contribute enterprise investing stories across platforms as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience covering investing, financial markets, public companies or the economy for a major news organization
  • Strong understanding of equity markets, investing principles, portfolio construction and the economic forces that drive stocks, sectors and market sentiment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce insightful investing analysis that helps retail investors better understand market developments and make more informed decisions
  • Experience writing newsletters or other recurring editorial products that engage audiences through a distinctive voice and compelling storytelling
  • Excellent news judgment, with the ability to identify the day's most important investing themes and separate meaningful developments from market noise
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and economic concepts into clear, engaging and accessible journalism
  • Experience covering earnings, corporate news, economic data, Federal Reserve policy and other market-moving events
  • Proven ability to generate original reporting and cultivate relationships with investors, strategists, analysts, economists and corporate executives
  • Ability to synthesize reporting from across a newsroom into a cohesive editorial product while meeting daily deadlines
  • Strong understanding of the needs of retail investors and a passion for helping readers make sense of the markets through practical investing insights
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across editorial, television, digital video, social, product and audience teams
