Job Summary
Conduct investigations of inmate disciplinary reports submitted by corrections staff, determining scope, timing, and direction while serving as chair of the hearing committee. Obtain facts and statements from complainants, witnesses, and the accused; gather evidence, coordinate testimony reviews, and interview witnesses. Make recommendations for sanctions based on committee findings and schedule hearings in compliance with court-ordered negotiated policies. Process and file incoming documentation, enter investigation findings into electronic data entry systems, and ensure dispositions are delivered with proper advisement of appeal rights. Assist with the investigation, response, and routing of inmate grievances while tracking statistical data and reviewing grievance files. Maintain records in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Two (2) years of work experience conducting investigations
- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license by the date of hire and maintenance of a valid license while employed in this position
- Successful completion of a post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation
- Complete all FEMA training(s) assigned to this position
- Complete required supervisor training, if applicable
