Job Summary
Neurosurgeon-scientist sought for a Tenure-Track Investigator role in the NIH/NINDS Surgical Neurology Branch to lead a high-scarcity program focused on tumors of the central and peripheral nervous system. The incumbent will provide clinical neurosurgical care at the NIH Clinical Center, participate in cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical research, and build a productive science program that informs patient care. Preferred candidates will have an active research program on CNS/PNS tumor biology, collaboration with neuro-oncology, neuropathology, and radiation oncology, and board eligibility/certification. The position is located in Bethesda, MD, with full civil service benefits and competitive salary commensurate with experience. Required Qualifications
- Holds an M.D., D.O., or M.D./Ph.D. degree (or equivalent)
- Board eligibility or board certification (required)
- Tenure-track Investigator position in surgical neurology focused on CNS/PNS tumors
- Active practicing neurosurgeon with interest in collaboration across neuro-oncology, neuropathology, and radiation oncology
- Ability to develop and direct a cutting-edge research program that informs clinical work
- Ability to participate in clinical studies and provide clinical care
- Appointment as NIH employee with salary competitive with premier academic institutions
- Eligible for valid work authorization (US citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, or non-US citizen as applicable)
- Demonstrated research record in basic biology and pathophysiology of nervous system tumors
- Collaborative research with translational/clinical components
