Job Summary
Part-time Invertebrate Keeper will perform day-to-day care of invertebrates and maintain terrariums and exhibits, including diet prep, substrate replacement, sanitation, and record-keeping. The role includes guiding and engaging guests through keeper talks, lab tours, and special events; ensuring compliance with USDA/APHIS regulations and standard operating procedures; maintaining show quality in the butterfly conservatory and lab spaces; collaborating with managers on research and husbandry techniques; and supporting team members and guests while reflecting Thanksgiving Point’s mission and values. Requirements emphasize teamwork, strong verbal and written communication, guest interaction, physical mobility to lift 50 pounds, and a background check with a preference for a biology/zoology-related bachelor’s degree and animal-care experience invertebrates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, or related field is preferred
- Preference for a year's experience caring for animals, preferably invertebrates, in a professional setting
- Proficiency with personal computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Valid driver's license
- Be at least 16 years old
- Must pass a background check
