Job Summary

Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Technician at Duke University Health System responsible for performing specialized and complex intraoperative neuromonitoring to obtain data for diagnosing disorders of the nervous system. Responsibilities span collecting and analyzing multiple types of recordings, applying deep knowledge of anatomy and neurophysiology, ensuring electrical safety of monitoring equipment, archiving data, and advancing practice through neuroanesthesia-related monitoring considerations. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological science preferred OR Associate Degree in biological science with equivalent experience in a health care diagnostic procedure setting
  • Experience levels as described for Level I/II/III monitoring (Level I requires no experience with a Bachelor's; Level II requires 1 year in intraoperative neuromonitoring; Level III requires 3 years in IONM with specific credentialing)
  • Level II: Registry in EEG or Registry in EP by ABRET, or RNCST, or RET (Canadian EEG registry)
  • Level III: Certification in neurophysiological intraoperative monitoring (CNIM) by ABRET
  • Knowledge in somatosensory evoked potentials, spontaneous and evoked EMG, electroencephalography, motor evoked potentials
  • ABRET credentials maintenance (CE hours) for continuing education
  • Duke CNIM credential requirements
  • Electrical safety knowledge relevant to monitoring equipment
