Job Summary
Conduct intervention, consultation, and training for general and special education staff to address behavioral issues and social skills deficits. Assist teachers in developing behavioral strategies, collecting data, and implementing campus-wide MTSS plans. Mentor new educators in classroom management and program fidelity while modeling effective social skills strategies. Collaborate with campus and district staff to create intervention plans and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education laws. Demonstrate knowledge of de-escalation techniques and best practices in varied educational environments. Maintain emotional control during stressful interpersonal situations and crisis management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Knowledge of de-escalation and behavior intervention techniques
- Valid Texas teacher's certificate in special education
- Three years' classroom experience
- Ability to work with school staff and parents
- Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral problems
- Knowledge in working with students with emotional/behavioral problems
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Moderate lifting and carrying of 15-44 pounds
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment
- Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions
- May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities
