Job Summary
Interprets medical information for patients in English and Navajo, serving as a cultural and linguistic resource across clinical settings (including patient rooms, imaging, labs, and telehealth), ensuring accurate translation of provider communications and materials while upholding confidentiality, HIPAA, and ethical standards; supports patient access to culturally appropriate care and participates in department activities and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bilingual in English and Navajo language required
- Valid unrestricted and insurable driver’s license required
- Certified in Navajo Medical Terminology preferred and must be received within six months
- At least one year healthcare experience preferred
- Background check and suitability for Child Care position required
- ICPFVP Act compliance and Navajo Nation/Indian preferences
Additional Requirements
- Absolute preference given to qualified Navajo applicants; if none, preference to qualified American Indian applicants
