Job Summary
Relay medical information between speakers of two different languages and ensure that information communicated by providers and staff is understood by the patient and family. Work cooperatively with other team members and departments. Report to the La Crosse campus within 60 minutes of being notified of an interpreter need for La Crosse and Onalaska locations. Serve as an on-call interpreter for nights during the week and weekend rotations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- A passing score on oral proficiency test through language testing agency in target language which evaluates knowledge of medical terminology
- Spanish speaking
- Strong customer service background
- Superior telephone skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Motivated and flexible candidates
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to report to the La Crosse campus within 60 minutes of being notified there is an interpreter need
- Must be available for call nights during the week
- Must be available for weekend on call rotation
