Job Summary
Educational Interpreter, Level 2 provides interpreting or transliterating services for deaf/hard-of-hearing students across one or more school sites per IEP, collaborating with the educational team to ensure equal access to instruction and activities (lectures, field trips, conferences, performances). Responsibilities include preparing materials, matching language needs, updating the team on student performance, interpreting for classrooms and school events, mentoring newly hired interpreters, and maintaining RID/NAD/EIPA professional conduct and credentials. Must be fluent in English and American Sign Language, with appropriate interpreter certification/credentials and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- BeI certification acceptable or RID/NAD certification
- Attended Interpreter Training Program OR passed EIPA/NIC written exam and EIPA score 3.5-3.9 (BEI acceptable upon review)
- Member of Registry Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) with proof of membership annually
- Fluent in English and American Sign Language (ASL)
- Possess appropriate professional interpreting credentials and participate in ongoing professional development
- Adhere to RID/NAD Code of Professional Conduct and EIPA Guidelines for Professional Conduct
- Experience in educational interpreting preferred
