Job Summary
Conduct field-based clinical services, risk assessments, and biopsychosocial screenings for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Service Provider Area 2. Engage with participants to develop care plans while implementing Housing First and trauma-informed principles, providing crisis intervention under direct supervision. Maintain ongoing communication with external agencies, medical personnel, and funding programs to coordinate necessary services. Drive agency and personal vehicles to transport participants across Los Angeles County and complete required documentation for school and contracts. Work a 9/80 schedule as a part-time intern (16-20 hours) with pre-approval from an accredited university.
Required Qualifications
- Currently in an accredited MSW / MFT program
- Active Board of Behavioral Sciences Intern Number
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Able to perform electronic data entry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to work with diverse population
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass post offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
- Comfortable in a pet-friendly environment
- Use of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites and other locations is required
- Must have and maintain a valid California Driver's License and auto insurance in good standing
- Ability to work a 9/80 work schedule, if applicable
- Must be pre-approved through an accredited University and matched with LA Family Housing as your assigned internship location
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma informed principals
- Experience conducting field-based risk, safety, and biopsychosocial assessments
- Experience identifying participant basic needs including socio-emotional, mental health, physical health, education, employment, and empowerment needs
- Experience providing crisis intervention
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with collaborating staff and outside partnering and collaborating agencies
- Experience engaging community-based organizations and social service partners
- Experience providing appropriate advocate on participants' behalf
- Experience completing and submitting documentation as required by school, LAFH contracts and performance standards
- Experience providing field-based supportive services and support programs
- Experience updating knowledge of current legislation, homeless services policies, and current legal/ethical social work practices
- Experience exploring and proposing solutions to current challenges, barriers, and effective services
