Internship (m/f/d) - Highly Dynamic Electromagnetic Actuators

Job Summary
Internship focused on understanding the working principles of low- and medium-voltage electromagnetic actuators and developing system-level simulation models that couple finite element analysis (FEA), control, power electronics, and mechanical loads. You will conduct magnetostatic, transient, and sensitivity analyses of actuators, collaborate with engineers to evaluate findings and derive recommendations, and document work with presentations to ABB stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
- Solid theoretical background in electromagnetics and electrical machines.
- Desirable familiarity with limited-stroke actuators or magnetic materials.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL Multiphysics or FEMM.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct systematic literature and patent research.
- Interest in sustainable technologies and alternative design approaches for electromagnetic devices.
- Hands-on experience with test setups involving electrical machines or actuators.
- Proficiency in English with the ability to convey technical findings in reports and presentations.
