Job Summary
Shadow attorneys during civil commitment representation in Brockton, Northampton, and Worcester offices, or assist Trial Support Unit attorneys in Boston with legal research, drafting practice materials, and managing intake calls. Conduct client interviews, review medical records, and prepare motions for funds and in-person hearings while working with independent medical experts. Develop research on race and equity issues to support litigation guides and assist in creating online training resources. Visit clients to ascertain positions on pending petitions and conduct direct examinations of forensic psychologists and psychiatrists.
Required Qualifications
- demonstrated commitment to the principle of zealous advocacy, community-oriented defense, and the protection of fundamental constitutional and human rights
- access to reliable transportation or public transportation to travel to courts and hospitals
- access to a personal computer with home internet access sufficient to work remotely
- completed their 2L year
- are or can be 3:03 certified
- completed their 1L year
