Job Summary
Engage with clients to identify symptoms, explore treatment modalities, and develop assessment and diagnostic skills. Create person-centered service plans tailored to unique individual needs while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations. Document interactions using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and operate basic office equipment including fax machines and scanners. Build rapport with clients and collaborate with seasoned professionals to support recovery journeys. This paid internship for Master's students in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services offers hands-on experience in substance use, co-occurring disorders, and developmental disabilities within Alleghany Highlands Community Services' person-centric culture.
Required Qualifications
- Current Master's degree student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services
- Understanding of the characteristics of substance use disorders, mental illness, and developmental and intellectual disabilities
- Meticulousness in maintaining confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with basic office equipment, including fax machines, scanners, copiers, and telephones
- Strong communication skills
- A person-centric approach
- Ability to undergo a background check, including social services review, and drug screen
