Job Summary

Conduct client interviews, home visits, and placement checks while assisting with case investigations for trial preparation. Perform legal research and writing for motion arguments, custody hearings, and termination of parental rights trials. Review pre-trial discovery and Department of Children and Families case files, and attend education-related matters including suspension hearings and IEP meetings. Negotiate with opposing counsel and appear in Juvenile Court on behalf of Child Requiring Assistance clients if certified. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client representation information.

Required Qualifications

  • demonstrated commitment to the principle of zealous advocacy, community-oriented defense, and the protection of fundamental constitutional and human rights
  • access to reliable transportation in order to travel to courts, clients, and investigation locations that are not easily accessible by public transportation
  • access to a personal computer with home internet access sufficient to work remotely
  • Interns must agree to keep confidential all information involving client representation, and the work they perform on behalf of our clients
