Job Summary
The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium seeks a Curator for the International Conservation Center to oversee animal care for elephants and other species. Requires a Bachelor's degree, extensive elephant management experience, leadership skills, and strong communication abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Management/Science or a related field
- Minimum of five years of experience in the care, training, handling, and breeding of elephants
- Completion of AZA Principles of Elephant Management Course I and II
- Current valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Documentation of current, negative TB test and Covid-19 full vaccination record

- Experience leading teams of animal professionals
- Excellent teaching, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
- Ability to deliver and receive constructive feedback to improve team performance
Additional Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Must possess astute attention to detail
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of fifty to seventy pounds
