Job Summary
Evaluate surplus property status to determine repair, salvage, repurpose, recycle, or disposal options. Coordinate with authorities, third parties, and school staff for the removal, staging, and sale of surplus assets generated from renovation projects. Transport furniture and equipment to sites using box trucks, delivery vans, and material handling equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts. Schedule removal and disposition activities with designated sites and vendors while assisting with ERD delivery staging. Requires valid motor vehicle license, forklift certification, and three years of warehouse or logistics experience. Position involves Monday-Friday work with occasional evenings and weekends in a warehouse environment with variable weather exposure.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Three years of warehouse, surplus, and logistics experience
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements
- Forklift certification (or ability to receive within 90 days of hire)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Power Point
- Knowledge of Google Apps
- Sound judgement, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Ability to operate computers and general office equipment
- Ability to operate power tools, battery operated pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, as needed
- Ability to operate box trucks and delivery vans
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, and vendors
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and various hand tools
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle to include delivery vans and trucks
- Frequently requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to fifty pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Three years of experience in the processing, recording, and disposal of surplus public assets
- Logistics and warehouse experience
- General knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the disposal of property
