Job Summary
Internal Research Fellow (PostDoc) in Biomimetics for space applications within ESA’s Advanced Concepts Team. Develop and carry out original biomimetics research for space, translating biology-inspired insights into space-relevant concepts. Lead research directions, collaborate across domains (AI, mission analysis, guidance and control, unconventional computing), publish results in peer-reviewed venues, and contribute to interdisciplinary projects. Prepare a research proposal as part of the application. The role emphasizes autonomy in research, collaboration, and communication across a diverse, international environment.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in biology or biomimetics (or closely related field)
- Ability to conduct autonomous research and drive scientific agenda
- Proficiency in computer programming and data analysis
- Strong publication record or demonstrated potential for high-impact publications
- Ability to work in a team and in a multicultural environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Wamiliarity with biomimetics for space applications and cross-domain collaboration (AI, mission analysis, guidance and control, unconventional computing)
