Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician

Job Summary
Provide exceptional nursing care and technical support to hospitalized patients by administering medications, managing fluid therapy, and placing intravenous and central lines. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, obtain diagnostic samples, and conduct in-house laboratory testing while monitoring vital signs and documenting progress in ezyVet. Assist with advanced procedures including anesthesia induction, endoscopy, and minimally invasive techniques such as abdominocentesis and bone marrow aspirates. Educate clients on chronic disease management, coordinate patient transfers across departments, and maintain clean, organized treatment areas. Collaborate closely with veterinarians and specialists to deliver high-quality specialty care in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the workday
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to safely perform veterinary technical procedures and operate medical equipment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds independently and assist with lifting heavier patients or equipment as needed
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced veterinary environment while performing the essential duties of the position
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate while working in emotionally challenging situations
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- Maintains respectful and effective communication with clients and team members
- Works collaboratively while taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities
- Maintains reliability through consistent attendance, punctuality, and follow-through

Desired Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
- Minimum two years of veterinary technician experience
- Specialty experience
- Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills
- Proficiency with ezyVet and Internal Medicine workflows
- Utilize Fear Free handling techniques
- Participate in continuing education, departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital training programs
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
