Job Summary

Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary care including counseling, referrals, minor surgery, and vaccinations. Elicit patient histories, examine physical conditions, order diagnostic tests, and analyze results to diagnose conditions. Administer treatments and drugs, advise on diet and hygiene, and report disease outbreaks to authorities. Conduct physical exams for school, job, or insurance eligibility while maintaining clinical tracking data. Delegate tasks to nursing and support staff, supervise their work, and retain responsibility for results. Assist the Clinical Services Director in planning and evaluating quality health care delivery. Participate in QA committees, local, state, and national medical associations, and in-service education programs. Maintain medical records using the POMR System and obtain full hospital privileges for continuity of care.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree from an accredited school
  • current license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi
  • completed a residency for board eligibility and/or certification
  • knowledgeable in the principles of practice management
  • ability to care for people throughout the life cycle (16 years and up)
  • sensitive to the needs of people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • give the same level of importance of health maintenance and disease prevention as cure and restoration
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controvesial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problem
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  • Currently licensed in the State of Mississippi to practice medicine
  • Must have completed a residency program for board eligibility and/or certification
