Job Summary

Lead installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance for plasma etch and deposition systems, ensuring compliance with cleanroom standards and process readiness. Diagnose root causes of complex hardware and software issues using specialized diagnostic tools, validate repairs against vacuum tolerances, and implement system upgrades to maximize uptime. Execute scheduled and emergency maintenance while providing hands-on technical training to empower customers to operate systems confidently. Collaborate across teams to escalate issues and maintain detailed documentation for continuous improvement. Requires extensive weekday travel to customer sites within a 60-minute drive of a major airport, with a salary range of $100,000-$120,000.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
  • Equivalent hands-on experience in semiconductor equipment service
  • 5–7 years of field service experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Focus on plasma etch and deposition systems
  • Familiarity with cleanroom operations and safety protocols
  • Hands-on experience with vacuum technologies: turbo pumps, cryo pumps, roughing pumps
  • Skill in troubleshooting 208V electrical systems and 24V control subsystems
  • Extensive experience with RF power components and pneumatically driven systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic instruments: Vacuum leak detectors, RF power meters, DVMs, LCR meters, multimeters, megohm meters
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical schematics and plumbing diagrams
  • Strong understanding of RF theory and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) systems
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processes: RIE, PECVD, ICP, ALD
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Passport
  • Ability to travel independently
  • Physical agility and comfort working in confined or awkward spaces
  • Capability to independently lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Commitment to extensive weekday travel to support customer installations and service needs, Monday through Friday
  • Residence within reasonable travel time (typically 60 minutes) of a major airport to support frequent weekday travel to customer sites

  • Knowledge of calibration and optimization of APCs and MFCs
  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace in cleanroom attire
