Job Summary
Support fundamental market analysis or quantitative modeling for ConocoPhillips' trading and risk decisions across crude oil, natural gas, power, and LNG. Build and maintain supply/demand balances, fair value models, and pricing simulations while analyzing industry reports, inventory levels, and shipping data. Assist in forward curve construction, code validation, and translating technical insights for non-technical audiences. Deliver a defined project with milestones and a final presentation to Commercial leadership. Interns work alongside analysts and quants on live commercial projects with a supervisor and mentor. This 10- to 14-week program at ConocoPhillips' global headquarters in Houston, Texas, begins mid-late May 2027. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and pursuing a relevant degree through Fall 2029.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or other related quantitative or technical fields
- Current level in college: Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student
- Expected graduation date: Fall 2027 through Spring 2029
- A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks' availability for internship
- Available for internship start mid-late May 2027
- Strong foundational skills in Excel including exposure to at least one programming or statistical language (e.g., Python and R)
- Exposure to analysis, modeling and visualization using common programs and applications (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Excel/VBA)
- Coursework or project experience in statistics, econometrics, financial modeling, optimization, or data science
- Interest in energy or commodity markets (crude oil, natural gas, NGLs, power, or LNG)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate and explain technical or analytical to non-technical audiences
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
- Genuine intellectual curiosity and a desire to deeply understand the logic, mathematics, and mechanics underlying the models and tools being built

- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
