Job Summary
Intermediate Systems Designer [Engineer] is a technical leader responsible for managing engineering aspects of projects and overseeing system design and requirements. You will become the local subject matter expert on customer processes, define system requirements, validate system capability, and drive design from cradle to launch. Responsibilities include providing technical oversight and coordination across project engineering work, supporting system startup and integration, contributing to design reviews, managing technical risk, performing design calculations (metrology, kinematics, MOEE, cycle-time, yield, reliability, safety risk assessments), evaluating third-party equipment, and collaborating with customers, ATS project managers, and teams to deliver high-quality, on-time solutions. Qualifications emphasize post-secondary engineering degree and P.Eng licensing in Ontario, with 3+ years of automation-related experience, strong robotics and machine controls knowledge, and excellent communication and leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
- Education: A post-secondary degree in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
- Note: A P. Eng license is required to be titled “Engineer” in Ontario.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, controls or systems engineering support, preferably in an automation environment and with customer interaction.
- Must have thorough knowledge of robotics, machine controls and manufacturing processes and be able to keep abreast of leading-edge technology.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
- Ability to lead or work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team are essential
