Job Summary
Conduct preliminary and detailed design for new bridges, culverts, and retaining walls, including rehabilitation of existing structures. Perform site inspections during construction and oversee inspections of existing infrastructure to prepare reports. Prepare contract specifications, structural reports, and CAD sketches while supervising junior team members and CAD technicians. Review construction submittals and RFIs, liaise with contractors and owners, and analyze designs for demolition and construction engineering. Requires a licensed Professional Engineer with 5+ years of bridge experience and proficiency in structural analysis software.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years of experience in bridge design, rehabilitation, and/or bridge construction engineering
- Conversant with CHBDC (CAN/CSA-S6), local bridge engineering standards, practices, policies and procedures
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Province of Employment
- Background in analysis and design of concrete and steel bridges
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., CSiBridge, SAP2000, Midas Civil, SOFiSTiK, etc.) and AutoCAD
- Ability to facilitate inter-disciplinary coordination and cooperation
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment
- Must demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with others
- Proficient in verbal and written communication
Desired Qualifications
- Post-graduate degree in Civil/Structural engineering would be an asset
- Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset
