Job Summary
Intermediate School Counselor responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned school. Duties include counseling students to develop academic, career, personal, and social abilities; delivering a campus guidance curriculum; assisting teachers with guidance-related instruction; coordinating college and career activities; consulting with parents and staff; coordinating gifted and talented evaluations; interpreting assessments; maintaining confidential student information; managing and coordinating program evaluation; coordinating RtI, Special Education, ESL/Bilingual and 504 programs; and serving as a professional resource to students, families, and colleagues. Requires a Master’s degree in guidance counseling and a Texas counseling certificate, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and experience in PK-8 settings.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in guidance counseling
- Valid Texas counseling certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Knowledge and skills of the needs of special populations students
- Three years teaching experience required at grades PK-8
- Three years counseling experience preferred
