Intermediate Professional Substation Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

Design low to extra-high voltage substations by creating one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, station physical layouts, and cable/conduit plans. Execute ground grid, foundation, structural, control enclosure, lightning protection, and yard lighting designs while generating bills of materials. Conduct site visits and support QA/QC for client deliverables. Adhere to client standards, exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds, and uphold workplace safety policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Occasional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design
  • EIT certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
