Job Summary

Conduct environmental sampling for surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, and air while overseeing subcontractors at project sites involving drilling rigs and construction equipment. Complete detailed field notes and documentation to capture observations, then collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with clients, regulators, and on-site personnel. Assist with project planning and coordination with laboratories and equipment vendors. Approximately 70% of time involves field work and travel with overnight stays, including weeks at a time, requiring flexibility for overtime and extended periods on feet. This role supports energy sector clients in northern Indiana through technically challenging site investigation and remediation projects.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in environmental sampling, site investigation, or remediation
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours, at locations requiring overnight stays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to apply analytical and scientific thinking to define and solve problems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, follow detailed instructions, and learn new skills
  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time, either stationary or walking
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required
  • Experience in site investigations required
  • Valid driver's license required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using and maintaining field equipment (e.g., groundwater pumps, field meters)
  • Regulatory experience in Indiana and Michigan
