Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for commercial and institutional buildings; lead mechanical design from concept phase through construction documents; collaborate with architects, interior designers, and engineers to deliver integrated, sustainable building solutions; develop and maintain high-quality Revit models and drawings; perform load calculations and system sizing; integrate energy modelling and lifecycle costing to optimize mechanical performance and budgets; manage day-to-day project activities, including client meetings and consultant coordination; support construction administration activities; mentor EITs and junior designers; contribute innovative mechanical solutions for green and high-performance building projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology Diploma in a related discipline
- P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.) licensure (or eligibility) required
- 5-10 years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for commercial and institutional buildings
- Proficient with BIM software (Revit preferred) and load calculation tools (Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, or similar)
- Familiarity with codes and standards including ASHRAE 62.1, ASHRAE 90.1, National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Building Code, NFPA 13/14, and CSA B149
