Job Summary
Design and develop mechanical systems for healthcare and mission-critical buildings, including HVAC, medical gas, and emergency power support. Perform load calculations, energy modelling, and prepare detailed designs using Revit and AutoCAD while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Conduct site visits for commissioning and construction support, and mentor junior engineers to contribute to the local practice's growth.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible for membership with APEGA – P.Eng. or P.L.Eng.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in mechanical building systems design
- Valid Canadian driver's licence with access to transportation for site reviews and inspections
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in the English language
Desired Qualifications
- ideally including healthcare or other mission-critical / essential facilities
- Proficiency with Revit (MEP) and AutoCAD
- experience with load-calculation and energy-modelling software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP)
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards — National Building Code (Alberta Edition), National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB), CSA B51 and ABSA pressure equipment requirements, and healthcare standards (CSA Z317.1, Z317.2, Z7396.1)
- Experience with emergency power support systems, fuel systems, and/or commissioning of essential mechanical infrastructure
- Demonstrated commitment to client service that is second to none
- Experience mentoring junior technical staff
