Job Summary
Execute instrumentation and controls design for projects of varying scope, developing deliverables such as instrument data sheets, schematics, P&IDs, and communication network diagrams. Support client requests and review vendor drawings for compliance while interpreting codes including ASME, ANSI, API, and CEC. Lead technical efforts involving DCS, PLC, SCADA, and control panels, and participate in HAZOP, PHA, and SIL studies. Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior team members and assist with regulatory applications and cost estimates. Travel to field for scoping, verification, and construction support. Requires P. Tech or P. Eng stamp, 6+ years of oil and gas experience, and SmartPlant Instrumentation proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- P. Tech or P. Eng and is able to stamp
- Current knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation
- Has designed PLCs and communication networks
- 6+ years of experience in instrumentation, communication, and controls
- Has worked for an EPC and created Engineering Work Packages
- Technical Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related bachelor's degree
- 6+ years of direct Instrumentation, Communication & Controls experience in the oil and gas industry
- previous EPC experience
- Professional registration with APEGA or ASET in the province of Alberta
- Current experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

- Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines
- Have a proactive, 'get it done' attitude
- Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (INtools) datahsheet revisions and wiring module
- Understanding of instrumentation engineering concepts, construction methods, and approaches
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Well-developed critical thinking skills, strong analytical abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PDF editing programs (Bluebeam, Adobe) used to create reports and documents
