Job Summary

Develop industrial control systems from concept through commissioning, including PLCs, HMIs, networking, and field instrumentation. Review customer requirements to design automation solutions and evaluate documentation such as Control Narratives and Cause and Effect Diagrams. Optimize multiple-loop process control systems using PID strategies and develop sequence-based logic from P&IDs. Program PLCs and HMIs using AWC standards, configure industrial Ethernet networks, and create intuitive SCADA applications with historian and reporting features. Troubleshoot issues associated with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and instrumentation during field commissioning and plant operations. Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing and provide remote technical support to clients and site operators. Mentor junior staff and communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues. Travel less than 25% of the time for field support.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
  • Experience in developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications and supporting industrial control systems through commissioning
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Experience with Siemens, CodeSys and/or Schneider automation platforms
  • Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, various VFDs, industrial communications networks
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, and OPC UA
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in delivering high quality results
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Interest in continuous learning
  • Field support will require the successful candidate to be willing to travel (less than 25% of their time)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants, as well as a variety of other turnkey industrial process packages will be an asset
