Job Summary

Intermediate Human Factors & Ergonomics Specialist responsible for conducting ergonomic and human factors analysis for military systems, evaluating reach and installation considerations in vehicle and operational environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to define user requirements, planning and conducting usability testing, applying human factors standards to product development, communicating findings through reports and presentations, advocating for End User needs throughout the design lifecycle, and supporting iterative design improvements. The role emphasizes user-centred design, usability testing, anthropometric analysis, and experience with hardware-enabled military contexts, with travel as required and a base in Calgary, AB. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Biomechanics, Systems Design, or related discipline with coursework in human factors or ergonomics
  • 2–5 years of experience in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Industrial Design, or Human Systems
  • Experience supporting ergonomic or human factors activities related to hardware, vehicles, facilities, or operational environments
  • Understanding of user-centred design principles, usability testing, and ergonomic assessment methods
  • Familiarity with anthropometric analysis and ergonomic evaluations
  • Experience using human modelling or simulation tools such as Siemens Process Simulate Human, JACK, or similar software is considered an asset
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate findings through written reports and presentations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to support research, testing, and design evaluations to improve End User experience and usability
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Familiarity with military (MIL-STD 1472, DEF-STAN-0251 and DEF-STAN 00-23-09) , ANSI, OSHA, or ISO ergonomic and human factors standards
  • Experience supporting usability studies, workshops, interviews, or research activities
  • Exposure to creating ergonomic or human factors artefacts, mockups, or design recommendations
  • Experience working with integrated product or engineering teams
  • Technical writing and presentation experience
  • Relevant professional certification or progress toward certification (e.g., CCPE, AE, CPE, C.ErgHF)
  • Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models
