Job Summary
Intermediate Geotechnical or Geological Engineer will contribute to the design, construction, and operation of greenfield or existing tailings storage facilities as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include site investigation planning and execution, foundation and tailings characterization, hazard and failure-mode assessment, stability analyses, development of construction drawings and specifications, construction oversight and quality assurance, responses to information requests, dam safety inspections, instrumentation data review, and records reporting. The role involves travel to North American sites, mentoring junior staff, presenting technical content to clients and regulators, and collaborating with contractors and multidisciplinary teams. A Professional Engineer with 5+ years of tailings management experience is required; a post-graduate degree is preferred. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a base salary range of CAD 90,000–CAD 120,000 per year, with compensation commensurate with knowledge and experience and potential for discretionary bonuses.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
- Post-graduate degree in Geological, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering is preferred
- Registered as a Professional Engineer
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in tailings management and dam design
- Demonstrated competency and experience working in tailings management for the responsibilities noted above
- Strong leadership, analytical, project management, and communication skills
