Job Summary
Join WSP as an Intermediate Mine Waste Engineer and engage in leading the design and construction of mine waste containment systems. You will conduct geotechnical investigations, develop long-term waste and water management strategies, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. This role requires 5–7 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering, and a P.Eng. designation or eligibility. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree and knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements. Strong technical writing skills and the ability to work in diverse environments are essential.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in mine waste engineering, tailings, geotechnical, or related environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering; P.Eng. designation or eligibility
- Working knowledge of tailings dam design guidelines, geotechnical best practices, and CSA/ICMM/GISTM frameworks
- Strong technical writing skills and comfort translating complex data into clear recommendations
- Ability to thrive in both office and field environments, including remote project sites in Canada or abroad
- Adaptable, collaborative mindset with a commitment to safe and sustainable delivery
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Knowledge of permitting processes and environmental regulatory requirements
- Experience contributing to project execution or guiding multidisciplinary teams
