Job Summary
Lead design and optimization of electrical power distribution and control systems for heavy industrial projects in a Terrace, BC area office. Responsibilities include leading design efforts for industrial electrical systems, preparing specifications and datasheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers and equipment, conducting power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash) using ETAP or EasyPower, integrating safety and regulatory compliance into all aspects of system design, developing distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable support designs, performing engineering calculations, conducting site reviews and client visits, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, preparing technical reports and cost estimates, and mentoring junior staff while building strong client relationships. Preferred qualifications include P.Eng in BC or eligibility elsewhere, CSA/ANSI/IEEE knowledge, power system modelling tools, and experience with instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/DCS/HMI systems, with French as an asset.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in BC; eligibility for other jurisdictions is an asset
- Working knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE standards and applicable codes
- Proficiency in power system modelling software and electrical design tools
- Ability to design distribution systems, grounding, lighting, and related systems
- Experience attending industrial sites and complying with safety regulations
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively within a project team
- French language skills are an asset
Desired Qualifications
- P.Eng registration in BC or eligibility for other jurisdictions
