Job Summary
Intermediate Electrical Engineer responsible for supporting an multi-disciplinary design team on municipal water/wastewater or industrial infrastructure projects. Lead or assist with electrical design tasks including power distribution design, single-line diagrams, site power layouts, motor control schematics, standby/emergency power systems, lighting layouts, and general power distribution plans. Contribute to Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) design for SCADA monitoring and control systems (control panels, P&IDs, process control narratives, I/O lists, instrumentation selection, and communication network diagrams). Prepare detailed designs, calculations, technical specifications, and contract documents for facilities such as water/wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. Produce design reports, cost estimates, tender documents, construction drawings, and support field investigations, inspections, FAT/SAT, RFIs, and change orders. Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders; provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, EITs, and co-op students. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and P.Eng. eligibility in Alberta or BC, ~7 years of relevant engineering experience, strong CAD/3D capabilities, familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code, and a valid driver's license. Hybrid work arrangement available across Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver offices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or British Columbia, or eligible for registration
- Approximately 7 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in municipal water/wastewater or industrial infrastructure projects
- Experience in detailed design, field coordination, and construction support
- Strong understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements and applicable industry standards
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
