Job Summary
Design and implement electrical systems for transportation infrastructure projects, including traffic signal and highway lighting systems. Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation while performing design reviews to ensure code compliance and accuracy. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, conduct field inspections, and provide technical guidance to junior personnel throughout project delivery. This mid-level role supports the planning and delivery of electrical systems for Edmonton-based infrastructure projects within a growing engineering firm.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta)
- Minimum 4+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing and managing one or more of the following: Traffic Signal Design, Highway Lighting Design
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable municipal, provincial, and industry standards
- Experience preparing engineering documentation, specifications, reports, and design deliverables
- Strong communication, stakeholder coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Experience working within infrastructure project environments and engineering project delivery processes
Desired Qualifications
- Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Experience using AutoCAD and other electrical design software
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient electrical design practices
- Familiarity with airport security systems, control systems, and related technologies
- Experience supporting quality assurance and engineering standards development
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience within engineering teams
