Job Summary
Intermediate Building Envelope Specialist based in Ottawa, focusing on building envelope design and performance for new construction with exposure to existing buildings. Responsibilities include executing envelope projects, providing technical guidance and project management, assisting with product research, reviewing drawings and specifications, conducting envelope condition assessments and forensic investigations, collaborating with the BIM team on drawings and details, performing CAE analysis of envelope details, preparing tender documents, and conducting field reviews and contract administration. Requires strong technical writing, leadership and communication skills, and a solid foundation in building science and enclosure performance; fluency in French is an asset. The role is hybrid in Ottawa with a 37.5-hour workweek and in-office days, with opportunities to travel for work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in building science, engineering or architecture; or equivalent training
- 5+ years’ work experience in building envelope consulting
- Registration as a P.Eng. or P.L.Eng. is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively in French is considered an asset
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Leadership and project management experience
- Willingness to work at heights and travel for work
- Knowledge of building science, heat, air, moisture transfer mechanisms, and enclosure durability
- Experience with building-enclosure simulation tools (THERM, Flixo, HEAT3, or WUFI) is an asset
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; passport and travel for work are assets
Desired Qualifications
